Speaker Bio
Kathy is Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications for Coke Canada Bottling, the independent, family-owned business that proudly makes, distributes, merchandises and sells the most loved beverages Canadians enjoy. In her role, Kathy is responsible for employee communications for over 6,000 Coke Canada team members coast to coast, external communications, community relations, stakeholder engagement, public affairs and industry relations, board communications, translations and issues management. Kathy sits on the board of the Canadian Beverages Association and actively supports industry’s strategic outreach and communications plans.

Kathy believes in the importance of having a mission in both her personal and professional lives. She has led the development of Coke Canada Bottling’s community strategy, which currently enables thousands of employees to volunteer every year coast to coast and, inspired by her experience on Kraft Hockeyville, helped to build the company’s recent, successful Coca Cola Holiday Caravan/Canada’s Kindest Community contest. The 2024 winner, Jarvis, Ontario, was just announced with $50,000 going to the local Community Foundation. Over 2,300 entries were received and nearly 600 communities were nominated. It’s true when they say kindness is contagious.

Over the last year and a half, Kathy, together with her husband Dan and her two daughters Grace and Maeve, have become very involved in successfully raising funds to support The Murphy Family Fund in Precision Medicine Research in Pancreatic Cancer at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH). It is a highly personal crusade inspired by her husband’s pancreatic cancer diagnosis and designed to create much needed opportunities to invest in the leading-edge research happening in this area at PMH. In the past, Kathy has volunteered her time for several political campaigns and been involved in her children’s schools. She sat on the volunteer boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters Toronto and Aisling Discoveries, a children’s mental health organization, and actively supported the Dr. Tom Pashby Sport Safety Fund.

Kathy is the proud mother of Grace, Maeve and an adorable Aussie Labradoodle named Paddy Murphy and is married to the world’s most understanding husband, Dan. The family is keeping up the tradition of ‘quality’ television viewing passed down by her parents who didn’t allow her to watch tv after dinner unless it was the news or sports. They are discovering the latest Netflix documentary series, following live sports when they can (Go Bills! Go Leafs!) and keeping up to date on the latest municipal, provincial and federal government news. The Murphys reside in Toronto, ON.
